About Het Depot
Het Depot Sculpture Gallery includes two arboreta; Hinkeloord and De Dreijen. You will also find sculptures in both these tree gardens.
Opening hours
Arboretum De Dreijen and Arboretum Hinkeloord are open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM. You can take a stroll through the gardens on your own.
Guided tour
If you would like more information about the special trees, shrubs and plants that have been here for more than a hundred years, you can sign up for a guided tour. One of our gardeners, who has been associated with Arboretum De Dreijen for over thirty years, can tell you all about this.
Our bees
Our apiary has housed our Buckfast colonies since June 2014. The Buckfast bees have been specially developed by crossbreeding for resistance to parasites and a gentle character. The bees owe their name to the Buckfast Abbey monastery. Brother Adam (1898-1996), the Benedictine monk who was also a beekeeper, lived and worked there. Due to the large bee deaths in the 1920s due to the tracheal mite, he started experimenting with varieties.
Els Voorbij has been caring for our bee colonies since 2018.

You can also admire our arboreta digitally. In our main building we show Stijn van der Loo's documentary: 'The gardens of Linnaeus – Hinkeloord and De Dreijen'.

Arboretum De Dreijen
Arboretum De Dreijen was built in 1895 and was an initiative of the National Agricultural School, a predecessor of what is now Wageningen University. The garden started as a school garden with, among other things, a floristry, vegetable garden, fruit garden and tree nursery.
Arboretum Hinkeloord
Far outside the built-up area, Dirk Vreede had the beautiful villa N'gladjoe built in 1855, named after his former plantation on Java. Only later did it get its current name Hinkeloord.
