Henk Spreeuwenberg
Henk Spreeuwenberg (1947) is an architect as well as a sculptor. After his degree in hydraulic engineering, he graduated from the Academy of Architecture in Amsterdam in 1976.
Spreeuwenberg brings architecture and visual arts together in his oeuvre of bronze sculptures. In his work, he combines stylised bodies with one or more cut-offs and a perfected finishing of the bronze. His sculptures show a tension between the organic and the geometric.
The finishing of the bronze is always smooth and sleek with an evenly patinated skin. This finishing allows the focus to be on the shape, the architectural aspect of his sculptures.
