Lotte Thuenker

The German Lotte Thuenker (1954) studied to be an architect at the technical university of Berlin, and worked at an architecture firm for a considerable time after graduation. That is when she started taking painting and drawing lessons. Along the way she started creating three-dimensional sculptural work. Since the 90s she has been experimenting with sculptures in Greek and Italian marbles. In 2011 she co-founded the international studio Pescarella in Pietrasanta, Italy, where she is also a partner.
Thuenker's work is characterised by abstract and monumental primal forms in various kinds of stone. She often adorns the skin of the hard stone sculptures with a graphic signature.
