Natasja Alers

Natasja Alers (1987, The Hague) Lives and works in Amsterdam. The NetherlandsVisual artist Natasja Alers graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in the field of ceramics. Alers makes casts of human body parts and constructs them into new sculptures, vases, reliefs, seating objects and installations. Her work has previously been on display at Design Museum Den Bosch, Collectible Art Fair, Art Zuid, PAN Amsterdam, Big Art, Rademakers Gallery and foreign exhibitions in cities such as Berlin, Brussels, Antwerp and Copenhagen. Her work is included in private and museum collections worldwide.

In our arboretum, you will find the work Breastparty XL by Natasja Alers. She offers the following description of this sculpture:

"With this work, I explore the boundaries of the human body in ceramics. Breastparty XL depicts the breast not only as feminine, erotic, or perfectly formed, but rather as a powerful, fluid, ephemeral, vulnerable, and self-contained form. I have translated the sensuality, sexuality, and fluidity of the body into this larger-than-life sculpture in form and color to celebrate the body, but also to comment on how the female body is still viewed in society."
